Funder data policies

Many UK and international funding bodies now have policies on research data management or data sharing. Most UK funder data policies are aligned with Research Council UK's Common Principles on Data Policy, which states that publicly funded research data are a public good, produced in the public interest, which should be made openly available with as few restrictions as possible.

You should be aware of the expectations of policies relevant to your research. Policies typically specify which types of data they cover, and address the following topics:

Industrial collaborators may have different practices with which you will also need to comply. These should be set out in a collaboration agreement or studentship agreement covering your research.
