Data file for "An Analysis of Introductory University Programming Courses in the UK". 1) anonData20160920.csv is a Microsoft-compatible CSV file containing the publishable parts of the survey. The following limitations apply. A) The names of the institutions, and e-mail addresses etc. of the responders, have been deleted as anonymity was promised. These are retained in an unpublished version so that follow-up surveys can be done. B) The 'write-in comments' on plagiarism/collaboration have been removed, as these made institutions too identifiable. C) The Nation/Tariff group data was added from a confidential file supplied by HEFCE. These data cannot be published without HEFCE's consent, hence are not included, which means that certain figures with this breakdown cannotbe reproduced by third parties from the data published. This record will be updated if the situation changes. 2) The files SurveyMonkeyRawData_Sheet_1_20160701.csv etc. contain the raw data from SurveyMonkey. These DO contain names, and are only for use by Davenport and collaborators in producing a repeat survey. Should another survey be planned by others, permission to use these data should be obtained from the Chair for the tme being of the Council of Professors and Heads of Computing (CPHC), its successor in title, or failing that the President of the British Computer Society. 3) The survey itself is in SurveyText.pdf. 4) We will add relevant R scripts.
