Data for Reducing Nonlinear Limitations of Ytterbium Mode-Locked Fibre Lasers with Hollow-Core Negative Curvature Fibre

The data behind the four figures shown in the paper. Including example autocorrelation traces and pulse spectra for figure 2. The latter 2 datasets summarize the peak power results and single pulsed modelocking ranges for the laser cavities built as shown in figure 3.

Data collection method:

The autocorrelation traces were taken using a APE pulse check auto correlator. The output of the laser was amplified through an ytterbium doped gain fibre prior to autocorrelation to ensure clear signal. The spectral data was taken directly from the laser cavity output using a Yokogawa optical spectrum analyser. The modelocking and multi-pulsing thresholds as a function of pump power were determined by observation of oscilloscope behaviour, changes in spectral width and small changes in measured autocorrelation trace. Drift in the threshold positions due to environmental factors were measured over 1-2 days and the maximum drift observed was incorporated into the error bars. The peak power was calculated from the measured output average power, pulse duration, repetition rate and losses in output coupling stages from the cavity.

Data processing and preparation activities:

Spectral data and autocorrelation traces were normalised for ease of comparison.
