Data collection method:

This research used a non-probabilistic convenience sampling. Invitation emails explaining the research and the link to the online survey were sent to 1562 UK building conservation professionals (architects, archaeologists, engineers, building surveyors, contractors, Specialist conservators, and local authority officers) compiled from the online, open-accessible, accredited conservation accreditation registers of major architecture, construction, and engineering professional bodies. Additionally, the survey was distributed via a professional heritage and conservation mailing list, and a LinkedIn post was used to recruit participants. The survey was also promoted at the Conservation X Sustainable Urban Development Conference, held in Bath in April 2025. The survey was launched on 15th March and remained open for two months.

Technical details and requirements:

The survey is conducted on the JISC online survey platform.
