Supplementary materials for "Improvement of optical and mechanical properties of self-written polymer waveguides bridged single mode fibers"
The dataset includes detail of fibre treatments with adhesion promoter and the impact of treatment duration on the fibre ends. Then the detail of mechanical properties of polymer waveguides are presented under both transverse misalignment and tensile stress. The effect of photo-bleaching is also investigated when polymer bridges were put under tensile stress. Finally, extra information is presented about millimetre-long waveguides and how the bidirectional curing technique enabled us to fabricate up to 1.2 mm long polymer waveguides. The supplementary materials also include the actual data (Excel files) used to make the graphs in the paper.

Data collection method:
For optical transmission experiments all spectra was recorded by Optical Spectrum Analyzer (OSA). In order to measure insertion loss of each waveguide, the trace associated with optical fibre that polymer waveguide integrated with was subtracted from the trace corresponding to plain fibre which was considered as reference assuming that the loss of 3m-4m can be ignored. the spectra were taken over the wavelength range of OSA ( 350nm-1750nm) which enabled us to measure loss at any particular wavelength in that range. For misalignment measurements and polymer bridge dimensions Image J program was used to measure the distances on micrograph pictures which were taken by high resolution camera mounted on the microscope.
